The table illustrates the percentage of children who played sports in one town in the UK in the year 2010.
Overall, the table shows that more boys played sports at a young age than girls did. However, we can see a dramatic change as the age increases, more girls played sports than boys did.
Looking at the boys section, it is evident that they played more sports at a younger age. For example, by age 9 54% of the boys were playing. There was a slight decrease in that percentage when the boys turned 11 as it became 41%. By age 13, it is clear that there was a sharp decline of the number, making it 16% and decreasing even more to 11% when the boys became 15.
Turning over to the girls section, we can clearly see that by the age 9 girls played sports by 49% and 34% when they turned 11. When their age increased percentage decreased the same as the boys. But the girls percentage was still higher than that of the boys during their older ages. By age 11 it became 29% and declined even more to 15% at the age 15.
In conclusion, it is evident from the table that as the children’s age inclined, their sports activity declined.
