The table illustrates information about the expenditure on health as a proprtion of GDP in five developed countries in the year 2022.
Overall, it is evident that the USA recorded by far the highest overall expenditure, whereas Japan had the lowest share.
To begin with, the public expenditure of the USA was slightly lower than that of Germany, with figures standing 17% and 18% respectively. However, the private spending in the USA was significantly higher than Germany, recording 20% and 15% in that order. A similar pattern can be seen in the total expenditure, with the USA spending 40% of its GDP compared to 35% in Germany.
Public spending in Italy was as low as in Japan, at 10%. By contrast, private spending in Italy was slightly higher than Japan, recording 8% and 5% respectively. When it comes to tatol spending, Italy allocated 25% compared to 20% in Japan. Finally, France had moderate expenditure rate, overall spending was 30%, public and private expenditure was 15% and 12% in that order.
