The given table illustrate the proportion of GDP spent on heathcare systems in different countries namely Japan, Italy, France, Germany and USA.
Overall, one can be clearly seen is that the figure for USA was the highest in both total and private spending among five countries, except for public spending which was surpassed by Germany. In constrast, the others had a tendency to spend more on public healthcare, rather than the private one.
Regarding USA’s figure, it witnessed the highest proportion in the total speding with 40%, compared to Japan’s with the lowest at 20%. Furthermore, the figure for Germany accounted for the second highest with 35%, followed by France and Italy with 30% and 25%, respectively.
In terms of Germany, the public spending was the top among five countries with 18% and 15% for the private one, surpassing USA with just 17% . Moreover, the figure for France was the third lowest in both public and private cost, with a modest percentage of 15% and 12%. Besides that, Italy and Japan occupied for the smallest proportion of both categories, with the same figure for the public spending at 10% and 8% for Italy in private expenditure . By contrast, a notable thing is that USA had the tendency to spend more on private healthcare, rather than public one, with 20% which was 4 times higher than the lowest of Japan, with only 5%.
