The table shows the percent of male and female lawyers working in various professions across a certain country in 2001 and 2016.
Generally, government sectors have been a surer choice for both genders, though slightly more men declined. Meanwhile, in private law and business, sufficient gains were made by females, whereas the “others” posts almost fell at such a drunken pace among women. In other words, in 2001, the majority of lawyers worked under government, which consisted of 45% men and 41% women. By 2016, male lawyers under government slipped down to 38%, and women in so-called government still remained higher at 42%.Over time, private positions became more appealing, i.e., male private lawyers increased from 15% to 19% and female private lawyers increased from 17% to 21%.
In the same way, business stayed at 14% for men but really increased in popularity for women, from 14% to 21%.In contrast, the “others” saw quite a plunge in female representation from 28% to only 16%. On the other side, male percentage grew slightly from 26% to 29%.
