The given table provides information about the proportion of male and female workers in four fields of employments in one country. These figures had recorded in 3 different years, including 1986, 1996 and 2006. Overall, education had been the most favorite choice of female employees throughout the period while manufaturing industry had been the highest figure in term of male employees in 1986.
With a view to working men, manufaturing industry represented the highest proportion with 32%, however, this number drastically dropped over years and took up only 17% in 2006. In contrast, catering had witnessed the growth and stability, starting with 16% in 1986, rising to 22% and remaining stable in the following years, so that, dominating the male workforce in 2006. The other fields such banking and education both had experienced the increase over the period and had ended with 21% and 15%, respectively.
Turning to female workforce, it is clear that education had attracted more than any other areas of jobs as it had displayed 33% in 1986 and increased slightly over years. The second highest percentage of working women recorded in catering, with 26% remaining the same in 3 years. Coming to banking, it had took up for 12% in the beggining and had slightly rose up to 19% in 2006. In contrast, manufaturing industry had seen an dramatically dcrease and had taken up for only 6% in the end of the period.
In comparison, while working women had tended to favor educational jobs, men had had a tendency to work in an industry relating to catering. In addition, catering had been a stable job which both attracted male and female workers throught the period.
