The table compares the proportion of men and women working in four different areas- retails/shops, health, manufacturing industry, and tourism- in unspecific country across three years: 1990, 2000 and 2010. Overall, all area of employment for men experienced a downward trend over a given period, the exception occurred for retails/shops sector, remained unchanged. The percentage of women workers in manufacturing industry declined, while other sectors for women increased.
Looking at the percentage of men at first, in 1990, manufacturing industry was a leading area of employment, representing 30%, distantly followed by tourism and retails/shops at 13%. Health ranked third in this category with 7%. The percentage of men who worked in retails/shops remained unchanged across three years. The employment figures for manufacturing industry and tourism decreased gradually to 10% by 2010.
In contrast, tourism was a most famous employment area for women with 23% and 27% in 1990 and in 2010, respectively. The percentage of women working in manufacturing industry noticeably decreased, dropping from 7% in 1990 to 3% in 2008. Health sector showed an upward trend, with figures growing from 9% to 15 %.
