The table illustrates the number of people in six megacities from 2017 to 2018 and the change in population between 2017 and 2018.
What is most striking when looking at the graphic is that the number of citizens in six cities increased over the period surveyed. Moreover, the change in population is most pronounced in Delhi, which is evidenced by its highest number of people among other cities and is the most significant change.
Looking first at Delhi, Shanghai and Dhaka, they experienced a huge number of people who lived there from 2017 to 2018. In the first year, Dhaka and Shanghai had 18,894 thousand and 24,862 thousand people inhabited there, respectively. Two cities increased over 680.000 people over two years. Additionally, Delhi grew 911.000 inhabitants, from 27,603 to 24,514 thousand, which was the most crowded among six cities.
Turning to Lagos, Lahore and Bangalore, they had the lowest population and the smallest change over two years. These cities just increased below 500 thousand citizens between 2017 and 2018. The population in Lagos grew from 13,042 thousand to 13,463 thousand. 11,263 thousand to 11,738 thousand was the alternation of people in Lahore. The remaining city had 10,990 thousand inhabitants in 2017 and 11,440 thousand people in 2018.
