The table illustrates the percentages of families which are categorised in various groups in order to evaluate the proportion of various categories residing in poverty in Australia in 1999.
According to the data , the single parents and unmarried couples without children have the highest proportion of people living in impoverished state . Their percentages are 21 percent equating 232000 and 19 percent equating 359000 respectively . On the other hand the unmarried elderly person and elderly couples have the least proportion of people living in poverty I. E .6 percent and 4 percent respectively. So we can say that people in their twilight years experienced leas poverty . On the contrary married couples with children are affected the most with poverty.
In conclusion , out of all households which accounted 11 % (1837000) , elderly married couples and unmarried persons are better off as compared to parents without children and single young people.
