Overall, the most obvious trend is that the period saw a decrease in almost all categories, except in community schools which increased significantly. In addition, specialist schools consistently recorded the lowest level during the period.
In 2000, the figure for voluntary-controlled schools was recorded at 52%, becoming the largest rate compared to the proportion of other schools, followed by grammar schools at 24%, which was the second highest. Meanwhile, specialist schools and community schools were at the same level, at 12%.
Turning to 2009, the proportion of voluntary-controlled schools experienced a significant decrease, finishing at 20%. Similarly, the figure for grammar schools recorded a half drop at 12%. While that of specialist schools witnessed a slight drop at 10%. In contrast, a different pattern was shown for community schools, experiencing a significant increase at 58%, which was the largest number shown on the table.
