Overall, in 2019 China had the biggest population, but in 2100 India is expected to be the largest. Also, some countries in Africa will become more populated, while some countries like Russia and Mexico will not be in the top ten anymore.
In 2019, China had 1,439 million people, and India was slightly lower with 1,380 million. The USA was in third place with 331 million. Other countries in the list were Indonesia (274m), Pakistan (221m), Brazil (213m), and Nigeria (206m). Bangladesh, Russia and Mexico had smaller numbers, between 129 and 165 million.
By 2100, India will grow to 1,551 million and become first. China is predicted to fall to 941 million. Nigeria will increase a lot to 730 million and become third. The USA will still be in the top ten but with fewer people. At the same time, Russia and Mexico are not shown in the top ten anymore, while new African countries such as D.R. Congo, Ethiopia and Tanzania will appear.
