It is undeniable that the number of employees working for large-scale industries is less, the salary paid to employees is much higher. Besides, the annual fuel consumption of small-scale industries is also less than that of large-scale industries.
As can be seen, small fishing vessels are recorded to top the list with 120 million workers, compared to 500 thousand for large industrial vessels. However, despite the large number of employees, the smaller boats can only produce 24 million tons of fish caught annually for food, while the larger boats contribute not only 29 million tons of fish for food but also 22 million tons for industrial processes.
Furthermore, annual salaries for those working on big-scale-industrial ships range from 25,000 pounds to 350,000 pounds. In contrast, salaries for those working on small-scale- fishing boats are only 200-3000 pounds per year. Additionally, the annual fuel/oil consumption of large companies is 65,000 gallons, compared to 8,500 gallons for small businesses.
