The table shows information about how many international tourists nine countries welcomed in 2009 and 2010 and the changes between these years. Overall, all countries saw an upward trend, except for Hong Kong. Moreover, France was the country that had a dominant number of tourists.
The figure of international visitors of France remained stable and ranked in the first place in both years, with 76 million arrivals. Less than about 10 million international visiotors, the US was in the second place, with 66 million and 67 million and had a gradual change over two years, increasing 1,5%. Spain and the UK, in 2009, had the same number of foreign tourists, welcoming 55 million, and both nations gradually increased to 56 million and 57 million respectively. With 3,6% growth, the UK’s data overtook Spain’s which grew about 1,8%. Similarly, the international tourist arrivals of Italy rose slightly, about 2.3%, from 44 million to 45 million.
By contrast, Turkey, China, and Germany witnessed a significant growth over the period of two years. The number of tourists visiting Turkey jumped to 45 million, which was equal to Italy’s figure. The arrivals of international visitors in China and Germany rocketted, from 22 million to 34 million, and from 11 million to 23 million respectively. The change of China was 55% which was about a half of Germany’s, around 109%. On the other hand, Hong Kong was at the bottom of the list in 2009 and 2010, with 10 million and 9 million arrivals, and decreased by 11%.
