The table illustrates the number of people who travelled abroad from 1990 to 2005. Units are measured in millions.
Overall, the number of international travelers has significantly increased over the period of time. Moreover, it can be seen that Europe is by far the area with the highest number of international travelers between 1990 and 2005.
Firstly, the rise in the amount of people going abroad was rather modest in Africa and the Middle East. Both regions one had respectively 18.2 millions and 9.8 millions people going for international travel in 1990. These figures were by far the lowest in the group and slowly rose to 28.7 millions for the former and 15.8 millions for the latter in 2005.
On the other hand, America, Asia and the pacific, as well as Europe have all had remarkable growth in the number of International travelers. Europe remained the leading source of international travelers increasing their number from 280.3 millions in 1990 to just over 400 millions in 2005. The number also sharply rose in America from 80.5 millions in 1990 to 115.2 millions in 2005. The most spectacular rise was that of Asia whose number of international travelers has more than doubled over the period of time.
