The table illustrates changes in the results one IELTS candidate received in seven mock exams and the actual IELTS test held in 2025.
Overall, the candidate made significant progress in all four components over the given period, with the overall band increasing as a result. However, while the scores for Reading and Speaking demonstrated relative stability, those for Listening and Writing were noticeably more volatile.
Focusing on the overall score first, it started at 6.5 on April 13th and climbed to 7.5 by June 12th, continuing its upward trajectory further to reach 8.0 by September 7th. Despite a drop to 7.5 in the following mock test, it recovered to 8.0 in the final exam on November 20th.
The figures for Reading and Speaking showed similar increases, with the former rising from 7.5 on April 13th to 8.5 by June 12th. Between July 31st and September 7th, it ranged from 7.5 to 8.5, but reached its highest of 9.0 on September 25th, remaining unchanged in the final test. Meanwhile, the Speaking score improved more gradually. It progressed from an initial 6.0 to 7.0 by November 20th, a rise interrupted only once by a fall to 6.0 on September 25th.
Listening and Writing, on the other hand, experienced marked fluctuations, beginning at 7.5 and 5.0, respectively. The score for Listening initially declined to 6.5 on May 4th; by September 7th, however, it peaked at 8.5, before ending at 8.0 in the final exam. As for writing, its figures were even more inconsistent. They soared to 7.0 on May 4th, which was followed by another surge to 8.0 on August 14th after a decrease to 6.0 on June 12th. Nevertheless, the final Writing score stood at 7.0.
