The table provides information about the number of people working as researchers in technology per million population in five countries – Turkey, Poland, Mexico, Moldova, and Togo – over a five-year period from 2003 to 2007.
In general, Poland maintained the highest proportion of technology researchers throughout the period, while Togo consistently recorded the lowest figures. Across the countries, some demonstrated a steady rise in the number of researchers, whereas others saw a decline or fluctuating trends over the years.
Focusing on Turkey, it showed a gradual increase in the number of people working as researchers in technology, starting with 47 researchers per million in 2003 and reaching 106 by 2007. Poland, which began with the largest number – 285 researchers per million in 2003 – experienced a continuous decrease, concluding with 226 researchers per million in 2007, though it still held the highest count among the five nations.
Mexico displayed more erratic trends, increasing from 147 researchers per million in 2003 to a peak of 242 in 2005, before falling to 183 by the end of the period. Moldova initially recorded 103 researchers per million in 2003, which dipped to 89 in 2005 but recovered to 114 in 2007. Meanwhile, Togo consistently showed the lowest figures, fluctuating slightly between 17 and 23 researchers per million throughout the years, demonstrating limited changes in its workforce engaged in technology research.
