The table depicts how Australian citizens registered five distinct means of transport over a four-year period from 2010.
From an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that passenger vehicles were the largest category throughout the period, with many of the remaining modes also showing an increase in their figures, although to a much lesser extent.
In 2010, the number of registrations of passenger vehicles was the highest, at 11,8 million. In addition, the figure for commercial vehicles was lower, being recorded at 2,3 million. Motorcycles, heavy trucks, and light trucks, however, were below 1 million, at just 540, 384, and 106 thousand, which makes them the least registered types.
During the next four years, the registration figures for motorcycles experienced a significant increase to 709 thousand, and had the largest percentage change between 2010 and 2014, at 30.8%. Meanwhile, those in light trucks showed a 23.5% change, lower than the data mentioned above, and slightly grew to 13 thousand. The same tendency could be seen in the other modes of transport, namely commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, and heavy trucks, which moderately rose to 2,7 million, 13 million, and 416 thousand, respectively. Additionally, they all had their rate of change under 20% over the timescale.
