The table compares the percentage of money spent each month on four essential areas: food, housing, clothing, and entertainment in five different European countries.
Overall, it is clear that most of the money went on food and drinks and housing in all five countries. By contrast the proportion of money utilised on clothing was the least in each country.
Looking at the table in more detail, the highest amount of money was spent on housing by Germany, France and the UK accounting for 33%, 31% and 37% respectively. In contrast, this figure was considerably lower in Turkey (20%) and Spain (18%). Moreover Turkish and Spanish people spent the highest ratio of their money on food and drinks at 36% and 31% correspondingly. Spending on food and drinks in the UK was 27% which was almost double then for clothing and entertainment, at 11% and 11% respectively.
On the other hand, the lowest proportion of money spent on clothing were in France at 7% and Spain at 8%. Similarly spending on entertainment in Turkey was only 10% which was the lowest in this category. However the UK people spent the lowest percentage of their money on entertainment at 11%.
