The proportion of native English females and males who studied nine major languages at the United Kingdom Centre for Foreign Language Learning, in 2020, is examined in the illustrated table.
Overall, most of the women and men preferred to learn Mandarin and Arabic, respectively, whereas Italian was the least popular with females like Polish with males.
To begin with the women, the category of Mandarin (27%) was nine times more than Italian language (3%). 5% of men learned French at the same level as Italian, compared to 10% of women.
It is interesting to note that the rates of Spanish learners were the same among both genders, exactly 19%. When it comes to German, the figure for women was 7%, but that for men was twice. Similarly, 8% of men chose to learn Welsh, more than twice the trend of women.
