Overall, the amount of hospital beds in three countries saw an upward trend, while the data on physicians and average stay in hospitals witnessed several fluctuations. Noticeably, the figure for Sweden in three categories named physicians, hospital beds and average stay in hospitals was consistently higher than the remaining countries.
As is presented in the table, in 1980, Sweden had the highest in three aspects, at 3.5 physicians, 6.4 hospital beds and 23 days of average stay in hospitals. In terms of hospital beds and average stay, France recorded the lowest figure, at 0,2 beds and 9 days accordingly. Meanwhile, the data on physicians of Austria was significantly lower compared to the remaining countries, at the mere 0.8 physicians.
In the following years, the amount of physicians in Austria and Sweden have increased by 0.2 by the end of the period. In terms of hospital beds, the data on three countries witnessed an increase. Remarkably, in 2000, the amount of hospital beds was eight times higher than the figure recorded in 1980. Regarding average stay in hospital, the figures for France and Sweden experienced a decrease from 9 days and 23 days to 5 days and 21 days respectively. Despite decreasing significantly to 6 days in 1990, the data on Austria recovering back up to 18 days at the end of the period.
