The table provides information about monthly passenger traffic and aircraft movements at Singapore Changi Airport over the course of last year, together with the percentage change from the previous year. Overall, while the total number of passengers slightly increased, the reverse was true for aircraft movements. Passenger traffic peaked in December, whereas aircraft movements were highest in January. Notably, February recorded the lowest figures for both categories.
Focusing first on passenger traffic, more than 54 million people used the airport throughout the year, with an average growth rate of 0.7%. The largest growth was observed in January, at 6.3%, reaching nearly 4.6 million passengers. In the next month, however, traffic dropped to its lowest point, at around 4.1 million, before rising steadily again and peaking at just over 5 million in December, despite a slight decrease of 0.5% compared with the previous year. In terms of the percentage change, it fluctuated between -0.6% and 3.4% for most of the period, except in March, when the biggest drop of 2.5% was recorded.
Regarding aircraft movements, a total of 341,537 flights were recorded, showing an overall decline of 0.7% as opposed to the previous year. Although the number of flights was highest in January (30,353, +7.6%), it decreased in most of the following months. After hitting a chart-low of 26,764 flights in February, aircraft movements staged a recovery in the following month, reaching 29,141 flights. The recovery was short-lived, however, as the figure consistently remained well below 29,000 from April to November, before rising again to 29,711 in December. It is also notable that while the percentage change was positive between January and May, it turned negative for the rest of the period, registering the biggest drop of 5% in both September and November.
