The given table illustrates the proportions of British people across different age groups, ranging from 18 to 65, who worked in various employment sectors in the year 2008.
Overall, it can be seen that the youngest population had the highest rate of employment, while the oldest had the lowest. Furthermore, the older people became, the less they worked in different workplaces.
In terms of the youngest group, the majority were employed in the field of retail(23%), which was slightly more than those in other sectors(21%), and more than double the percentages in manufacturing and health. Nevertheless, this group was by far less employed in accountancy, law, and agriculture at 3%, 4%, and 5%, respectively.
In contrast, the middle-aged group showed the second-largest rate of employment, ranging from the lowest in accountancy to the highest in other sectors, with a percentage of 20 in total. On the other hand, those between 40 and 66 contributed the least, with the figures showing the most in manufacturing and the least in accountancy at 26%, collectively.
