The given table illustrates the position of females in parliament leaders and management in five different countries – namely, Canada, Norway, Tobago and Trinidad, Uruguay, and Italy – in 2000.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the percentage of women in management was higher than that in governments. In addition, Uruguay recorded the lowest share of women in parliament leaders, while the highest percentage of women managers was shown in Italy.
Looking at the details, Italy accounted for the highest proportion of managers (54%), followed by 52% in Norway and 40% in Tobago and Trinidad. Interestingly, Canada and Uruguay showed identical shares, each representing 37%.
When it comes to the percentage of total seats parliament leaders, the maximum figure was observed in Norway (36%), which was almost two times higher than that of Tobago and Trinidad (19%). Meanwhile, the lowest proportion of female parliament leaders was shown in Uruguay (8%). The remaining countries, Canada and Italy, accounted for different shares, varying from 10% to 28%.
