The table illustrates the survey of a 20-year study regarding the reasons why adults in the UK attend arts sessions.
Overall, over the last 30 years, the most common reason for attending art events was the desire to see a specific artist, whereas the proportion of adults who attend art sessions for work or business was the least favored option.
The most popular reason for adults was the desire to see a specific performance throughout the period, and it witnessed slight fluctuations, with 58% 20 years ago, 55% 10 years ago, and 56% now. Meanwhile, the percentage of adults who went for work and business made up the least proportion over the period (6%, 10%, and 11% in the present day), making it the least common reason.
The proportion of people who went in order to accompany children constantly rose and made up 9% 20 years ago, 15% 10 years ago, and 24% today. In the meantime, the reasons for special occasions and celebrations experienced a moderate decrease over the last 30 years and fell from 27% to 20%, reaching almost 9% in the present day.
