The table illustrates the proportion of mobile phone sales by different manufacturers across the world across two consecutive years- 2005 and 2006.
Overall, Nokia had the highest market share in both years, while BenQ Mobile had the lowest share. Also, Nokia, Motorola and Sony Ericsson managed to increase their revenues in 2006 as compared to 2005, but Samsung, LG and BenQ Mobile decreased their sales.
Nokia accounted for nearly one third of all the mobile phone sold worldwide in both years whereas BenQ contributed to less than 5%. Motorola came in a close second accounting for nearly one fifths of all cellular phones purchased by people in the given years. Samsung, the Korean multinational, was the third favourite, comprising about one tenths of global mobile phone market. Sony Ericsson and L.G. showed relatively stable trends maintaining their market sales at 6-7%. A separate category that pooled data from the sale of other handheld mobiles showed a slight decrease of 3%.
