The data presents the amount of sales of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in five European countries from 1994 to 2004.
Overall, the sales of coffee increased throughout the years in all country, whilst the the out trading of bananas decreased in Sweden and Denmark. Despite of this, The markets of coffee and bananas with price tag increased steadily over years.
The sales of coffee with price tag reached highest in UK, increased to 20 millions in 2004 from 1.5 millions in 1919. UK replaced Denmark and held first position in coffee selling. The sales of coffee in Switzerland reached double of 1999, increased to 6 million in 2004. Switzerland replaced Denmark and held 2nd position in coffee selling, whilst Denmark, Belgium and Sweden had slight increase of sales of labelled coffee. The sales of fixed priced bananas in UK and Belgium increased 1 million to 5.5 millions and 0.6 million to 4 millions respectively.
Switzerland remained first and selling country of bananas, 15 millions in 1999 increased to 47 millions in 2004. In 2004. The market of fixed priced bananas fells down in Sweden and Denmark in 2004. The sales dropped to 1 million from 1.8 million in Sweden and 0.9 millions from 2 millions in Denmark.
