The tables compare sales of Fairtrade-labelled coffee and bananas in 1999 and 2004 in five European countries(UK, Switzerland, Denmark, Belgium, Sweden).
Firstly, the 1999 sales of coffee in the UK was 1.5 million Euros, which was dramatically increased to 20 million Euros by 2004. Subsequently, Switzerland witnessed a similar surge from 3 million Euros to 6 million Euros sale of Coffee by 2004. Moreover, within five years Denmark and Swedan rose slightly by 0.2 million Euros, Belgium has grown by 0.7 million Euros.
On contrary, banana sales in Switzerland has trippled from 15 million Euros to 47 million Euros in five years. Beside this, UK and Belgium witnessed a growth of 4.5 million Euros and 3.5 million Euros, subsequently. Nevertheless, over five years of time, Sweden and Denmark marked decline in the overall sale by 0.8 million Euros and 1.1 million Euros.
Overall, when the sales of Banana have grown in UK, belgium and Switzerland, the sale in Sweden and Denmark declined. Whereas, the sale of coffee was consistently surging in all of the countries.
