The first table indicates the amount of people in New York City between 1800 and 2000. The other two table give information about the percentage change in people in five districts for the same time.
Overall, New York City population had increased rapidly. At first, people in Manhattan seemed to be greater than in other four districts. However, over time population in other districts rose rapidly and became had the most people lived.
In 1800, there were nearly 80,000 people lived in New York City, with 76% percent of them were in Manhattan, tripled the number of the four district. Over the next century, the population rose rapidly to nearly 3,500,000 people. More than half of them was in Manhattan and the others was in Brooklyn, Bronx or Queens and Staten Island, the amount of person seemed to be far equal. In 2000, the total number of people lived in New York rose and reached a peak at 8,009,185, 81% of them lived in other districts and only one-fourth of the population stayed in Manhattan.
