Overall, it is noticeable that, the US, where most people preferred to study, ranked at the top while in Canada foreign students account for a higher percentage. In Canada the majority of foreign students came from China, whereas in the US, Canadian students accounted for highest proportion.
In Canada, number of students from China, with 5400 people in 2002, ranked at the top while Indian students accounted for 2100 people representing the lowest position. In 2003 learners from US, made up 5450people, ranking the second place compared with Chinese students with a difference of only 2400. The percentage of people who came to Canada from China ranked the highest proportion while Indians accounted for 35% taking the second place.
110000 learners from China came to the US for study there in 2002 and accounted for 6% while Canadian students were several times lower than Chinese. Indian students accounted for 200000 people in 2002 decreased 182000 students in 2003. The percentage of Canadian students accounted for 7% was slightly lower than Chinese.
