The two line graphs compare smoking trend and alcohol consumption between 1960 and 2000 across the USA, Japan, and Holland.

The first graph illustrates smoking consumption. Holland had/held the highest population at almost 60% in 1960, followed by Japan and the USA. The most dramatic decrease was experienced by Holland, falling to about 43% in 1980 and declined slowly at below 40%. A similar gradual decline was observed in both Japan and the USA. Japan’s smoking rate declined from 50% to around 38% while the USA’s fell from 40% to nearly 20%

In terms of alcohol, the lowest consumption was Turkey at approximately 0.8 litre in 1960. Which eventually reached 1 litres in 2000. Meanwhile, Holland accounted for the highest increase, reaching about 11.5 litres in 1980 and fell slowly at 10 litres by 2000. On the contrary, the USA increased minimally by 1960 to 1980 and decreased slowly by 2000 at 8 litres.

Overall, it can be seen that the lowest population who smoke was the USA, whilst second place for alcohol consumption
