The given charts illustrates data about the main sources of energy in the USA in the 1980 and 1990 over a 10 year period.
Overall, in the America the dominant source of energy was oil in both decades, although its share decreased a bit over time. Meanwhile, the use of nuclear power and coal showed slight increases, while hydroelectric power experienced a small decline.
By the 1980, oil was the main source of energy at 42%, followed by natural gas at 26% and coal at 22%. Hydroelectric and nuclear power were the least significant sources, contributing 5% each of them.
In the 1990s, the percentage of oil decreased sharply to 33%, coal increased modestly to 27p percentage. Natural gas declined a bit, just for one percentage, to 25%. The share of nuclear power doubled to 10%, while hydroelectric power remained unchanged at 5 per cent over the ten year period.
