Overall, the hospital area underwent significant modernization, characterized by traffic management improvements and the separation of parking facilities for staff and the public. The main hospital building itself remained unchanged, but the surrounding transport network was substantially reconfigured.
In 2007, access to the hospital was via Hospital Road, which connected City Road to the Ring Road encircling the main building. Six bus stops were located directly along Hospital Road, three on each side. By 2010, these individual bus stops were removed and replaced by a dedicated bus station situated to the west of Hospital Road, which connected to both Hospital Road and City Road via new slip roads. Additionally, two roundabouts were introduced: one at the intersection of City Road and Hospital Road, and another at the northern end of Hospital Road where it meets the Ring Road.
Parking facilities also experienced major re-routing. In 2007, a single shared car park for both staff and the public was located to the east of Hospital Road. By 2010, this original parking zone was restricted exclusively to hospital staff. To accommodate visitors, a brand-new, larger public car park was constructed on the eastern side of the hospital, accessible directly from the Ring Road.
