The maps illustrate the evolution of a particular coastal town in Pentland between 1950 and 2007.

Overall, Pentland has become modernized and tourist-friendly. The elimination of Grassland, industrial area and car park. Paved the way for cinema, shops, multi story car park, swimming pool, park, yacht marina, apartments and houses, while the existing features such as roads and sea have stayed largely untouched.

In 1950, Pentland used to boast a leafy environment. There used to be grassland in the south-west and south-east. Roads were occupied in the middle area. Car park located in the north-east. There used to be an industrial area positioned in the west. When it comes to the sea, it was situated in the north.

Fast forward to 2007, Pentland has undergone significant transformation. Grassland cleared to leave space for the cinema, shops, multi story car park and houses. Where there had once been a swimming pool, there is one industrial area. Apartments come at the expense of removing the car park. The park was positioned in the north-west.
