The maps illustrate how Tilden Airport and the adjacent territory changed from 1985 to 2015. In essence, the airport itself and the surrounding area were massively developed. Immense changes in the infrastructure, housing and facilities happened.
In 1985, Tilden Airport had an international and a domestic terminal, a car park, airport support services and a sole runway. By 2015, it had been transformed into an international airport. Furthermore, the International Terminal had been substantially expanded. Furthermore, the second track had been added to the northeast of the first runway. Moreover, the Airport Support Services building had been relocated.
The enclosing infrastructure was augmented as well. In 1985, there was only Johnson’s Farm to the east of the International Terminal and two factories across the road from it. By 2015, the farm had been substituted with the Business Park and the housing estate. In addition, both factories had been demolished. The Hotel and Conference Center just east of the Airport Support Services building had been constructed instead. Furthermore, a light rail to the City of Tilden had been built, and the Bus and Light Rail station had been added.
