Overall, at the beginning of the period construction contributed the least to the economy of Turkey and agriculture was the most significant economic sector. In comparison, at the end of the period healthcare and education became the largest economic segment and the lowest contribution was made by financial, business and other services.

In 2000, Agriculture was the largest sector, making up 24% of the economy. Healthcare and Education and Leisure and Hospitality were both important as well, each contributing 17%. Trade, Utilities and Transportation accounted for 14%, while Government and Manufacturing contributed 12% and 8% respectively. Finance, Business and Other was only 5%, and Construction was the smallest at 3%.

In 2016, the economy changed. Agriculture dropped to 14%, while Healthcare and Education stayed the same at 17%. Trade, Utilities and Transportation slightly increased to 16%, and Manufacturing rose to 12%. Finance, Business and Other grew to 8%, and Construction saw a big rise from 3% to 10%. On the other hand, Leisure and Hospitality and Government both fell, to 14% and 9%.
