Overall, airborne waste and the marine was always the main causes of ocean polution whilst litter and farm waste had less impact on the sea.
Looking at the higher categories, the dominant of air pollutants expanded from 36% in 1997 to 41% in 2007. Marine waste ranked second in 1997 with 27%; however, the figure declined slighly by 3% by 2007. Pollutants from industrial activities also decrease, it took up one fifth over total sources of pullutant in 1997 and by 2007, the figure was only 13%.
Offshore soil used to contribute 6% in the ocean contamination; however, it surged significantly to 20% by 2007, making it the third largest contributor. By contrast, both litter and argricutural waste declined from 5% each to 1% by 2007, the sum of them was humble.
