The bar graph illustrates the water usage of six Middle East countries, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Saudi Arabia in 2000.
Overall, it is clear that the proportions of water used for domestic and agricultural purpose were dominant in all of the six countries. Water use in industrial sector took the least part of the total in every country. Compared to the proportion of water used in industry, the share of water used in domestic and agriculture showed significant differences among the six countries.
Looking at the graph more closely, one can see that in Bahrain, the gap between the amount of domestic and agriculture water usage was the least among the six countries. In Kuwait, the percentage of water used for domestic reason was the highest, which was over 60%. Unlike Bahrain and Kuwait, water usage for agricultere surpassed domestic in the other four countries. In Qatar, the water use in agriculture was approximately two times larger than domestic. The usage of water in agriculture peaked in Oman and Saudi Arabia, where the percentage was higher than 80% in both countries. People in UAE utilized water for industrial purpose the least.
