The bar chart displays the proportion of men and women from Britain eating five or more portions of healthy foods such as fruit and vegetables during the day, by age in 2006
Overall, consuming certain number of portions of vegetables and fruit was popular among 55-64 aged people, thus, both genders of people exhibited highest percentage. However, the lowest proportion was observed by group of males and females aged 19-24.
Older residents of Britain ate considerably more than young people. About 35% females aged 55-64 enjoyed consuming vegetables and fruit, whereas the percentage of males doing this was approximately 2% lower, which was the highest performance among other age groups. As for groups aged 65-74 the proportions of women and men were around 28% and 26%, respectively. Males aged over 75 showed similar results to females in the same age group, with 25%.
Turning to the remaining categories, eating healthy food for individuals under the age of 54 was not as popular as among the elderly. The percentage of women consuming certain portions of vegetables and fruit was about 25%, which was almost 5% higher than that of men. Both genders aged 35-44 and 25-34 recorded almost similar proportions, all remaining under 30% and slightly above 20%. In terms of healthy food intake among the youngest individuals aged 19-24, the proportion of females was 16% in comparison with 15% for males, which was the lowest figure among other age groups.
