Overall, it is clear that the highest amount of production came from Asia at the beginning of the period, but this figure declined significantly the period of the time, while rest of the world increased throughout the period.
In terms of production output, the period between 1840 and 1920, witnessed a significant rise in Europe from 40% to 50% but subsequently this figure declined rapidly from 50% in 1920 to 28% in 2000. In 1840, Asia contributed the highest proportion of production output around 50% but this figure fell rapidly to 20% by 1960, whereas from 1920 to 2000, it rose drastically from 25% to 45%.
On the other hand, between 1940 and 1960, there was a significant rise in the percentage of production output in rest of the world from 10% to 39%, while over a period of 40 years it declined to 31%.
