This graph presents a comparison of the number of books read by citizens from 2011 to 2014, focusing on both males and females. Overall, men initially read more books than women; however, women’s reading skills improved over time, allowing them to surpass men after the second year. Meanwhile, men’s reading habits fluctuated, experiencing a slight decline.
Two distinct trends began to converge at various points during this period. In 2012, females surpassed the males in terms of reading quantity. After this milestone, female readers continued to increase their book consumption, reaching their peak in 2014. Comparatively, their reading rates rose dramatically, increasing by five books throughout the entire period.
On the other hand, males displayed higher reading rates than females initially, but this trend was eventually overtaken. Following this, the rate of books read by men fluctuated, with a decline observed in 2013. However, in 2014, their reading rate rebounded to match the same number of books read as in 2012.
