The given line graph compares the percentages of recycled materials, namely paper and cardboard, glass containers, aluminium cans, and plastics in a specific nation between 1982 and 2010.
Overall, all categories experienced an upward trend. However, aluminium cans grew the fastest throughout. It is also noticeable that paper and cardboard were recycled the most throughout the graph, and plastics were recycled the least.
In 1982, the paper and cardboard recycling rate stood at 65%, the highest among the four materials. After fluctuating in the late 1990s, it peaked at 80% in 1994 before gradually decreasing to 70% by the end of the period. In terms of glass containers, the figure began at 50% and slowly dipped to 40% in 1990. After that, it witnessed a significant and steady upturn to 60% in the final year.
Concerning aluminium cans, they were only first recorded in 1986 but showed a rapid rise to roughly 45% by 2010. Plastics recycling began to be recycled in 1990, but, unlike aluminium cans, it slowly and gradually increased to about 9% in 2010.
