Dear Mr. Potter,
I am writing this letter to formally apologize for not being able to attend yesterday’s meeting with the Auditing department.
I know our team has been preparing for this audit for months now, ever since we moved to a new building. I am also aware that our team leader, John, has been reminding us daily to prepare all the materials needed and clean all our work stations.
Yesterday noon, I received a call from my wife that she fainted in the morning and needed to go to the hospital immediately. Right away, I went home to pick her up and brought her to the hospital. I am glad it wasn’t anything serious and she just needs bed rest for a few days.
I was informed everything went smoothly yesterday and we got a high passing mark with the Auditing team. To make it up to yesterday’s absence, I would like to ask permission to extend my working hours this coming weekdays or come to work this weekend. Please let me know if these suggestions work for you and the group.
Yours Sincerely, Po
