Dear Alex,

I hope all is well with you. It has been a while since I last heard from you. I am reaching out to you to recommend you a book that I read recently and I know it will be helpful with your incoming computing science degree.

The book is “Effective Java” by Joshua Bloch. In this book, you will find all the practical guidance for a novice Java programmer. You can look for realistic examples of how to use methods, generics, object creation and so on. Another plus point is that the book is updated regularly to reflect the latest features and most efficient use of Java. Hence, you will not be overwhelmed when you go to the college.

I am sure that after finishing the book, you can build a fundamental foundation and crucial program habits, that will help you in the long run for your career. The book also includes many code snippets to clarify different concepts, that are easy to follow and code along. You can find the book online surely, or I can bring you the paperback to you when I get over next time.
