Dear Dinah,

I am writing to explain the reason for arriving late at work over the past few days.

This month, I moved to a new house which is far from my work location.I have to changed 3 buses to reach at work and it took approximately 3 hours. The schedule of the buses will be varied according to weekdays and weekends at this location . Additionally, this week there was construction going on due to this I came late.

I Sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you and your staff members. I know punctuality is the main key for every organisation.

I would like to assure you that I would be on time next week. Actually, I purchased a new car this week so, I would cover the distance within few minutes without wasting time on changing buses.
