Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to express my sincere apology and also keep you informed about the events that have occurred over the past week since I got the employment Email from your organisation stating that the date of resumption is next week.
Unfortunately, my grandmother who raised me from childhood passed last week from a ghastly motor accident. It was a devastating experience because she is my only surviving relative and her remains was not a palatable site to behold.
Although this may not be an ideal situation for you, I am reaching out to request for an extension of resumption because the funeral is slated for next week Tuesday. I know how inconveniencing this may seem but I belief that my level of competence and excellence was noticed during the interview and I am a hard worker who would not want to lose this opportunity.
I kindly request for a 3 days extension seeing that I have to be present for her internment. I hope to get a favourable feedback.
Thanks for your consideration,
Tom Ford.
