The trends of employment in the USA in the line chart spans for a total of 50 years (5 decades), beginning from 1975 as the first year to 2025 as the last year. The employment categories are divided into three different fields which belong to the type of blue-collar jobs in general. The year 1980 (40 million mark) seems to be a critical point of which the 3 fields cross paths on, with different outcomes by 2025.
Starting from the manufacturing field: the line shows a steady improvement from an initial 10 million in 1975 to about 15 million in 1979 and to its peak of 40 million in 1982 before finally declining back to the 15 million mark in 1982, and is closed by a turning back to the 10 million mark.
Unlike manufacturing, the services field shows a really stable development in numbers without any sign of decline. Beginning with a similar amount of employment number as manufacturing, it still rises its number after hitting the 40 million mark in 1980, all the way to a whopping 90 million figure for 2025.
Lastly, agriculture seems to be suffering the most since it already saw a massive decline from 1977 to 1979 after the 80 million mark went down to about 50 million. By 1980, the number fell harder to about 20 million in 1982 and finally hits an all time low of 10 million in 2025.
