Overall, the salt water captures the most portion of all water, compared to fresh water. The main part of fresh water comes from ice and glaciers. In terms of consumption, Egypt and Saudi Arabia use the highest percentage of their water in agriculture, while Canada’s water is mostly used for industrial purposes.
The share of salt water and fresh water within whole liquid resources is 95% and 5%, respectively. The fresh water is mainly found in ice and glaciers, with 75%, followed by ground water at 23% and surface water has the least share of only 2%.
In Egypt and Saudi Arabia, the majority of water is consumed in agriculture, which stood at 84% and 83%, respectively, and the remainder is used for domestic and industrial purposes with similar level of usage. In contrast, Canada consumes 80% of its water to industry, followed by domestic and agriculture, with 10% and 9% each.
