Overall, men dominated the smokers number, however in this period, the amount of smokers decreased a lot. The women’s numbers were always fewer and went down also.
The men’s smokers reached its peak in 2011, with approximately 4.2 million. In the next 2 years it has fallen by about 1.7 million. But in 2015 and 2016, the number has grown by 200 and 500 thousand respectively. The next 4 years, the number has been relatively stable, despite fluctuations. In 2020, the amount of smokers shot up by one-quarters. Furthermore, in 2021, the amount has reached its lowest with only about 1.2 millions.
The women’s cigarette users always were free than the men’s. In 2011, the number was about 3.7 million, which is, as men’s, the highest point. In the next 2 years, the number has its downward trend and reached about 700 thousand smokers. In the period between 2014 and 2017 has fluctuated and, as a result, rose a bit. In 2018, the number increased by around 700 thousand. The next 3 years were the same, the women’s cigarette users went down by around 500k annually.
