The table illustrates New Zealand’s population within four groups, from under 15 to over 65 years old, between 2011 and 2012.

Overall, it can be seen that those aged from 15 to 39 contributed the most, and those over 65 years old contributed the least to New Zealand’s population over the period. Furthermore, the total population witnessed a significant growth at the end of the given timeframe.

Focusing on decline, in 2011, the number of under-15 people was around 899,000, while the figure experienced a decrease of almost 4,000 the next year. In the meantime, although those between the ages of 15 and 39 recorded the largest population, they experienced a drop of approximately 3.000 and fell to 1,574,102.

On the other hand, there was a surge in the remaining categories. Despite recording the smallest population in 2011(573,946), those over 65 had risen to 596,903 by the end of the period. Meanwhile, the number of 40-64 New Zealanders climbed from 1,331,907 to 1,339,898.
