In 2016, around 40% of the populace obtained their news from smartphones and 20% of them used computers, but these figures shot up to just above 70% and around 40% respectively. There was a sharp decrease in the number of television users and newspaper readers by around 20%.
The news topics which the egyptian people are most keen is news about famous celebrities followed by around 77% of them. In contrast, domestic and international news is the lowest at 32%, whereas sports news is consumed by 54% of the population.
