Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to bring an unfortunate news to your attention, that I will be unable to pay the rent on the due date. Last evening, during my absence, a thief broke into the apartment through the window and stole my belongings.

He robbed some cash, and electronic devices such as my laptop, and gaming console as well. Although, I have reported the incident to the local authorities, it will consume time to locate the burglar. As a college student, it would be impossible to arrange the rent by the end of this month. Consequently, I have managed to convince my parents to assist me in this situation. Hence, I assure you, that I would pay the required sum the moment I receive the money order.

I hope that you would understand my pity situation. However, I believe that security cameras and theft alarm should be installed at the apartment entrance to prevent such incidences in future.

Yours sincerely,
